SCIFSA is a partnership of five African Universities in Eastern, Western and North Africa lead by Makerere University in Uganda. The members of this partnership are Makerere University (Uganda), University of Ghana, Legon (Ghana), University of Eldoret (Kenya), University of Cairo (Egypt) and Universite Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (Senegal).  The partnership also has Politechnika Slaska (Poland) as a technical partner and Regional University forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture – RUFORUM as an Associate partner.. Scholarship Advert for Short Term Academic Mobility  -  New !!!!!!!

The EU under its Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, has provided funding to support training of graduate students in African universities. In this academic mobility programme five African partner institutions and one EU partner will collaborate in the training of professionals in crop science to achieve effective food security in Africa that shall lead to increased food production and enhanced food and nutritional security, and hence, improved livelihood and household revenue. A total of 24 Masters (6 credit seeking, 18 degree-seeking) and 12 Doctorates (4 credit seeking, 8 degree-seeking) scholarships will be offered in the thematic areas of Plant breeding, Biotechnology, Seed science and technology, Agronomy, Vegetable crop production, Pesticides and plant protection.

The Call for applications is open from 16th March 2020 and will close on 30th April 2020.    The application for scholarship should be sent to the project coordinating office (mobilityscifsa@gmail.com and ruthiemutyaba@gmail.com) with copy to the coordinator at the sending institution for Target group 1 (see the list below).  To apply, download application form from the project website ( download  ), fill and send to the e-mails above. Travel opportunity Advertisement – Academic/Administrative Staff Mobility - New !!!

The EU under its Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, has provided funding to support training of graduate students in African universities. In this academic mobility programme five African partner institutions (Cairo University, Cheik Ante Diop University of Dakar,  Makerere University, University of Eldoret and University of Ghana, Legon) and one EU partner will collaborate in the training of professionals in crop science to achieve effective food security in Africa through increased food production and enhanced food and nutritional security. In addition to providing scholarships for MSc and PhD studies, SCIFSA also provides opportunity for university academic and administrative staff to share experiences and learn from others. We are happy to announce the availability of four slots for staff mobility. The staff will be hosted for a period one to six months in one of the five partner universities mentioned above. 
The Call for applications is open from 16th March 2020 and will close on 30th April 2020.  The application for staff mobility should be sent to the project coordinating office (mobilityscifsa@gmail.com and ruthiemutyaba@gmail.com) with copy to the coordinator at the host and sending institutions. About Plant Bleeding Programme

 In 2012, the MSc. Plant Breeding programme was selected as one of the two best graduate programmes in Africa by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and the prize given by HE Koffi Annan, the former United Nations Secretary General. The PhD programme was designated in 2012 as the East African Community Centre of excellence for training crop scientists and Biotechnologists.  It has already trained 26 PhD students from Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and over the last four cohorts.
